  1. What is JavaScript?

    JavaScript is a programming method used to display dynamic content on Web pages, such as a giving a Web page the ability to instantly react when filling out a form (for instance, JavaScript will tell you if you forget to type a digit of a phone number).

  2. Do I need to enable JavaScript to browse the Internet?

    You can view Web pages without JavaScript, however, there will be Web pages on which you will not be able to view some content. If you visit a Web page with JavaScript content and don't have JavaScript enabled, you will get a notice asking you to enable JavaScript.

  3. How do I enable JavaScript?

    Internet Explorer 5.x / 6.x users:
    1. Open Internet Explorer, and click on Tools.
    2. Select Internet Options and click on the Security tab.
    3. Click the Custom level button, opening the Security Settings dialog box.
    4. Enable the following in the Scripting category: Active Scripting, Allow paste options via script and Scripting of Java applets.
    5. Click OK and OK again to finish.

    Internet Explorer 7 / 8 users:
    1. Open Internet Explorer, click on Tools, and select Internet Options.
    2. Click on the Security tab.
    3. Select Custom level... in the Security level for this zone box.
    4. Scroll down until you reach the Scripting section.
    5. Ensure Enable is selected for Active Scripting.
    6. Click OK and OK again to finish.

    Mozilla Firefox 1.0 users:
    1. Open Firefox, click on Tools, and select Options.
    2. Select Web features from the list on the left.
    3. Click on OK.
    4. Check the box next to Enable Java.
    5. Click on OK.

    Mozilla Firefox 1.5 users:
    1. Open Firefox, click on Tools, and select Options.
    2. Click on Content.
    3. Check the box next to Enable Java.
    4. Click on OK.
